The newly elected Mayor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder has attended the All India Mayors Conference at Varanasi on Friday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the Conference today. Also, Union Urban Minister Hardeep Puri and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, among others, took part in the conference. A total of 120 Mayor from all over the country attended the Conference.
After attending the conference Majumder shared his experience with Tripura Times and said attending the Conference is a wonderful experience.
“In conference, several aspects relating to civic services and amenities were discussed in detail. Ensuring street lights in every pole, beautification of the city, sewerage and waste management system etc were stressed in the conference. Apart from this bringing simplification and ensuring transparency in Civic service delivery was also focused during the deliberation in the conference”, Dipak Majumder said.
Virtually addressing the All India Mayors Conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there is a need for evolution and not revolution.
“We should preserve the old and adapt to the new. Varanasi is a perfect example of this. This ancient city has not cast aside its ancient character but has also woken up to a new Kashi by adopting technology and new ideas,” he said.
The Prime Minister asked the mayors to find the date of birth of their respective cities and commemorate it.
“There can be a beauty competition between cities with parameters like cleanliness, colours of a market, signages, among others. You can hold rangoli competitions on the theme of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. There can be a competition of lullabies sung by the elderly and these can also be composed by young citizens about what they want for the future of their children,” he said.
