Tripura has, once again, excelled in the Agriculture sector. The State has been awarded the ‘Best Performing Small State in Agriculture’ in India Today State of States Conclave 2021.
Expressing happiness, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb tweeted, “Extremely happy to inform all, #Tripura has been awarded Best Performing Small State in Agriculture in State of the States conclave -2021 organized by India Today Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, our agricultural sector is achieving unprecedented heights”.
Tripura Agriculture Minister Pranajit Singha Roy also expressed his pleasure at the achievement of the State Agri-sector. In a Facebook post, Singha Roy said, “I salute the Honourable Prime Minister, Union Agri Minister, honourable Chief Minister of Tripura and all the staff of the State Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department”.
Notably, the State Government is working relentlessly to ensure sustainable growth in Agriculture and allied sectors. Procurement of paddy at MSP and other initiatives to double farmers’ earnings have contributed in the growth of the Agri sector in the State. Even during the Corona Pandemic, the State Government continued to provide assistance to people including the farmers in various manners to keep the growth momentum afloat.
Besides, the State government’s push for cash crop cultivation is also paying good dividends.
Exports of Pineapple have opened a new horizon for the pineapple growers which received a further boost after a fruit processing unit has become operational in the State.
The vision of attaining self-sufficiency in Agri-related activities is taking the State forward, experts opined.
In a recent Investment summit, leaders of the tea sector hailed the State Government’s attempt to encourage small tea growers.
