Civil Engineering Department NIT Agartala organizes five days long International virtual workshop on “Recent Advancements & Emerging Economic Aspects of Transportation Geotechnology (RAEEATG 2021)” for the research scholars, faculty members, students and practicing engineers.
The workshop started on December 20 and will continue till December 24 next.
This workshop aims to address the recent developments in Road construction techniques using several artificial and natural materials keeping a view on sustainability and prospect of economical development of any region, especially NE India. Emphasis will be given on use of locally available materials as well as the re-use of existing pavement materials for road construction. International and national speakers from highly recognized universities and industries will address the participants regarding advancements in transportation geotechnology during these five days’ workshop.
The inaugural session of the program was graced by distinguished guests, Bharat Chandra Pradhan (The Consultant Director (Technical), NRIDA, Govt. of India, Tinku Roy, The Chairman, TIDCL & TNGCL, Govt. of Tripura, Prof. (Dr.) H.K.Sharma, The Director, NIT Agartala, Prof. Madhira R Madhav, Former Professor IIT Kanpur & Emeritus Professor JNT University and Dr. Sima Ghosh and organizing Chairperson, HOD Civil Engineering Department of the NIT Agartala.
The Director of the NIT Agartala in his welcome address appraised the importance of the topic of this workshop stating that road infrastructure plays a vital role in the overall economic development of any region. He also added that NIT Agartala may take a pivotal role in pursuing research on Road infrastructure in a collaborative manner with Ministry of Road, Govt. of India as well Govt. of Tripura.
Chief guest Pradhan stressed on the application of new innovative economic road construction techniques which need to be well verified in the field before use and also presented detailed statistics on the application of new techniques applied in India.
Besides, Special guest Tinku Roy made suggestions on prospects of development of industry based on the availability of various sustainable natural and waste products related to road infrastructure in Tripura including other NE states of India.
Roy also welcomed the collaborative proposal of Director NIT Agartala.
Finally, the concluding remarks and vote of thank are drawn by the Program Coordinators, Dr. Rajib Saha and Dr. Dipankar Sarkar delivered the concluding remarks and vote of thanks.
They mentioned about the plan of communication of the outcome of the workshop to Govt. of India and Govt. of Tripura.
