A person got infuriated at late night and thrased his mother with a wooden stick at Khowai in Tripura. He ran into house of another person and created ruckus. While returning home in the early morning, he attacked as many as seven persons with the stick leaving them injured. Later Police restrained him.
In almost an uncanny reminder of the gruesome Sheoratali incident under Khowai in Tripura in which a mentally deranged person killed five persons recently, one youth in the same subdivision on Wednesday ran amok attacking his family members and people who fell in front of him. However, before the situation turned blood-soaked, the youth – Dhananjoy Debnath – could be restrained and detained in time – though by this time, he had injured his mother and seven others.
The incident took place at Purba Ganki Colony Village at Khowai.
Dhananjay Debnath got married three times one after another. While two of his wives died owing to various reasons, he has a chaotic relationship with his third wife. The couple almost every day gets engaged in verbal duels. After each bitter altercation, the wife rushes to the local panchayat member’s house.
On Tuesday evening, the Panchayat member along with some of the elderly persons of the village went to the house of Dhananjoy. They talked to the couple and with Dhananjoy’s mother to solve the problems between the couple.
However, on Tuesday late night, suddenly, Dhananjoy started shouting in an aggressive mood with a wooden pile in hand. Seeing him in such a condition, his wife left the house.
According to his mother, Biraja Debnath, Dhananjoy thrashed her after failing to find his wife. Birja Debnath sustained injuries from the attack.
After injuring Biraja Debnath, infuriated Dhananjoy went out of his house with the wood pile and entered the house of Panchayat member Pritish Barman to attack him, but Pritish escaped from his house. The accused later ransacked the house and while returning to his house he attacked and thrashed seven others.
Meanwhile, Pritish informed the police who detained the man and took him to the police station. The injured people identified as Bakul Debnath, Harendra Shukla Vaidya, Ratna Debnath, Fulan Deb, Manojit Debnath, Gourmohan Debnath and mother Birja Debnath were rushed to the hospital.
