Natak Rang Nei Di Kaden Na Nam Rang Di Ro which may be translated like, as you love yourself, love your tribe as well – with this motto, the 5th Bongcher Annual General Meeting 2021 cum the traditional harvest Festival of the community was held on Wednesday.
The festival was held at Longtheng village under Dhanlekha VC under Gomati district in Tripura with the initiative of the several Bongcher social organizations.
People belonging to Bongcher community from all over the State assembled here in Longtheng village and participated in the festival with great enthusiasm.
Executive Member of TTAADC, Kamal Kalai inaugurated the programme. Among the distinguished guests, Kamal Bongcher, Bongcher Rai, Thomas Bongcher, president of Bongcher Youth Association (BYA), Peter Bongcher, secretary of BYA, Vanlalmoi Kaipeng, central YKA president and Raymond Bongcher, chief advisor of BYA were present on the occasion.
According to the local people, the Bongcher community organizes their annual general meeting in every year aiming to foster and promote their communal unity, culture, heritage, costume as well as fraternity amidst the Bongcher people.
On this auspicious occasion they also celebrate their harvest festival through colourful Bongcher cultural programmes with the motto of “Natak Rang Nei Di Kaden Na Nam Rang Di Ro.” ( As you love yourself, love your tribe as well).
As part of the programme, a grand feast is also organized for the participants.
