A group of job aspirants including females, who staged a road blockade to register their protest over the recruitment in two India Reserve battalions of TSR, demanded an increase in vacancy.
“Initially, we were told the recruitment drive would be held for 2200 posts. But, as per the final merit list, around 1400 candidates were recruited while some posts still remained unfulfilled. We want the number of vacancies to be increased to 2200,” an agitating job aspirant said.
A candidate who appeared in the interview process for TSR jobs alleged that the list of the rejected candidates and their numbers were not released whereas some candidates who obtained 26 marks were selected as per the merit list.
“The lists of selected candidates after physical and medical tests were released but there was no list after the written test and before the final merit list. So, we didn’t know about the marks we secured; now how we will define that our marks were less than the selected candidates,” the agitators pointed out.
Some female candidates, who joined the agitation, brought a serious allegation that a few candidates, who couldn’t clear the tests, were given a place in the final list.
When the job aspirants rejected in the TSR interview assembled on the main road near the High Court of Tripura, they were forcibly removed and arrested by the security personnel.
“We have gathered here to seek justice but security personnel forced us to withdraw the agitation. We will file case if we don’t get justice,” an agitator told the media, adding that no government official had met them so far.
