Dist level Book Fair at Sonamura from Apr 23
After a gap of three years, Sipahijala District level Book Fair will be organized at Sonamura Subdivision. The Fair remained suspended in 2020 and 2021 due to Corona Pandemic situation. The book fair will be inaugurated on April 23 and the five days book fair will be ended on April 27 next. Altogether 40 stalls will be opened at the book fair where 25 stalls will be provided for book sellers. Besides, remaining 14 out of 15 stalls will be provided for Self Help Groups and one stall will be allotted for Koushal Yojana.
The decision of book fair was taken at a meeting held at hall of Melaghar Municipal Council. DM of Sipahijala Biswashree B. chaired the meeting where the decision was finalized. Besides, SDM, ADM , stakeholders of Melaghar Municipal Council and Sonamura Municipal Council were present at the meeting.
Nor’wester: power outage in Kalyanpur
After a brief spell of the Nor’wester, locally known as the Kalbaishakhi, power supply in Kalyanpur under Khowai district was completely disrupted. The Kalbaishakhi hit Kalyanpur on Sunday night.
According to the manager of Kalyanpur Electricity Corporation, at least five electric poles were broken in the Kalbaishakhi. This affected the power supply and a vast area of the sub-division plunged into darkness.
Drinking water supply has been disrupted due to the power outage since Monday morning. This led to water crisis in the subdivision.
It is learned electricity is being supplied to Kalyanpur through two feeders of 33 KV from Gamaibari of Teliamura and Dhalabil of Khowai. But both the feeders have been out of order since last night.
The repair works are being reportedly hampered due to shortage of manpower. Moreover, the Kalyanpur Power Office has a single vehicle to attend customers complains and conduct repair works in the transmission lines.
The whole of Kalyanpur is under power outage till the time of report filling.
Segun timber recovered
Forest Department personnel recovered Segun timbers from two vehicles on Monday morning at a place between Deochhara and Krishna Pur in North Tripura District.
According to sources, Forest Department personnel, acting on a tip-off, chased two vehicles and stopped those in between Deochhara and Krishnapur.
Meantime, drivers fled away. After a search, Forest personnel recovered 15 cft and 22 cft Segun timbers. The market value of recovered timber was Rs 37 thousand. Locals hail the efforts of the Forest personnel.
