2 smugglers group clash: Youth shot dead
Tension ran high at the zero point of Indo-Bangla international border near Boxonagar after a youth was shot dead and another was injured in a clash between two groups of smugglers on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Ariful Islam of Cantonment area in Comilla district of Bangladesh. The firing incident reportedly took place at the house of Helal Miah near pillar no- 2063 of the zero point.
The injured youth was rescued by a group of local villagers and he was taken to the BGB jawans posted near the Pachra village.
The incident triggered panic among the people of India and Bangladesh living in the zero point.
Road mishap claims one
Gobindapur area in Kailashahar after being hit by a tomtom. The deceased person, Kalyan Debbarma was an employee of the Industry Department. During the last 10 years, he was living in a rented house at Gobindapur in Kailashahar.
According to sources, Kalyan Debbarma was paying fees to a tomtom standing near his rented house on Tuesday – at that time, another tomtom from the opposite side hit Kalyan Debbarma at a high speed. He was later shifted to the Unakoti District Hospital where he succumbed yesterday.
Youth sustains bullet injuries
A 35 years old Anwar Hossain was allegedly shot at by BGB and is undergoing treatment at the GB Hospital. However, the BGB denied the allegation.
The incident took place at Siddhi Nagar Muslim Para under PR Bari police station.
A farmer by profession, Anwar Hossain was allegedly called to Bangladeshi Phulgazi Police Station from the Indo-Bangla border area on Indian side. Hossain was shot with a rubber bullet.
