The Railway Board received proposals for running trains connecting Agartala with Mumbai and Puri, Union Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Patil Danve said after attending a review meeting with the officials of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) at the State Guest House in Agartala on Thursday.
Raosaheb Patil Danve arrived in Agartala on Wednesday on a three-day State visit and reviewed progress of various schemes.
According to the AIR local news, Danve said proposals for running trains Agartala – Mumbai and Agartala – Puri have been sent to the Railway Board and the proposals are under consideration.
The MoS chaired the review meeting on Thursday with the NFR top officials including general manager Anshul Gupta, divisional railway manager J. S. Lakru, Additional Secretary to the Transport Department of Tripura – Subrata Chowdhury, Deputy secretary Maitrayee Debnath and others.
Speaking to the media, Danve, who took a review of the ongoing projects in various North Eastern states, said that all the projects would complete within the stipulated time. The review meeting would continue on Friday.
The MoS had a courtesy meet with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and discussed various matters related to the rail network of the Northeast.
Deb extended gratitude to Danve for unprecedented development in Tripura and North Eastern Railways. He also discussed expediting the works of new railway lines for the state and Agartala-Akhaura Railway link.
The Minister of State for Railways R P Danve along with the officials of NFR would inspect the work progress of Agartala- Akhaura rail project on Friday.
