The present government is always working for the welfare of the people. The topmost priority has been given to ensuring quality education in the state. The number of Eklavya Model Residential Schools is being increased in tribal populated areas. 125 schools of the state have been already brought under Mission Vidyajyoti, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating the newly built Laljuri Higher Secondary School building and the newly built Girl’s hostel of Kastuba Gandhi Girls School in Kanchanpur on Thursday.

Addressing an interactive session with the college students at Kanchanpur Town Hall, the Chief Minister said, if the students gain value education, it would help them become self-confident.

In his interaction, Deb also shared various plans of his government with the students.

A 25-year action plan for the development of the state has been prepared by the government and it would give a clear idea to the students regarding the future prospect of the state. The students need to know about all these and select their courses for studies keeping in sync with the plan, Deb said, according to a government press release.

He also spoke on the changes brought in the education system over the past four years.

Deb also highlighted several other achievements and said, after the present government took over, a lot of change has been brought in the distribution of items in ration shops. Earlier, only rice, salt, and kerosene used to be given in ration shops. Sugar distribution stopped after lifting government subsidies in case of sugar. But the present government has once again started the distribution of sugar along with starting distribution of Dal, Wheat flour, Maida, Suji, Soyabean and tea.

The Chief Minister said, the central government has granted housing to over 2 lakh families in the state under PMAY-G scheme. The Prime Minister granted the first installment for the construction of 1 lakh 59 thousand houses altogether last September. The Prime Minister saved many lives by providing free Covid-19 vaccination during the pandemic. The Prime Minister is providing different kinds of facilities for improving quality of living of the people such as free cooking gas connection under Ujjwala Yojana, free rice for the poor, housing under PMAY, toilets, and electricity connection, improved roads, drinking water connection etc.. Several different developmental works were done in Tripura such as improving the National Highway, the opening of new terminal building of MBB Airport, improvement of infrastructure etc..Apart from this, income per head has increased as compared to past days. Farmers’ income has increased. The Prime Minister even mentioned Tripura’s jackfruit in his Maan Ki Baat programme. Farmers are now getting their deserved price after Tripura’s scented lemon hit markets outside the state.

He said, the state government has increased the social pension to Rs 1 thousand primarily, which will be increased to Rs 2 thousand before this Durga Puja. He said, a transparent recruitment policy has started in the state. The age for service in TSR has been increased to 60 years. He also said, 5 schools in Kanchanpur have been turned into CBSE schools. NCERT syllabus has been introduced. 33% women’s reservation has been ensured in government jobs to empower women.

Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Santana Chakma said, the overall development of the state in case of roads, drinking water, electricity etc., has been possible due to the present government. Others present during the inaugural programme were MDC Swapna Rani Das, North Tripura DM & Collector Nagesh Kumar B., SP Kiran Kumar K. and Director of Higher Education Nripendra Chandra Sharma. The programme was presided over by Laljuri BAC Chairman Ajant Kumar Choudhury. The new building of Laljuri HS School was built at the cost of Rs 5 crore 90 lakh. The 100-seated Girl’s School of Kasturba Gandhi Girls School was built at the cost of Rs 1 crore 85 lakh.
