Along with the other parts of the country ‘Akshaya Tritiya’ was celebrated all around Tripura with religious fervor on Tuesday.
People observed a day-long fast during Akshaya Tritiya. Also, prayers and pujas were organized by individuals, traders and organizations in different parts of the state.
Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb greeted the people of Tripura on this auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
Traders performed jatras of their Haal Khatas on this occasion. Jagannath Bari, Agartala observed Chandan Jatra and procession was brought out by the devotees. Lal Bahadur Club performed traditional Bar puja wishing success in Football tournaments on this occasion. ISKCON will hold a peace rally, as part of observance of Akshaya Tritiya, in Agartala wishing global peace.
Besides, jewelry stores and markets across the state have seen huge crowds to buy jewelry, as it is believed that, buying gold and properties on this day brings prosperity and wealth in the future.
The festival of Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated by Hindus and Jains around the world. Also known as Akti or Akha Teej, this day is believed to be one of the most auspicious occasions.
According to the Hindu calendar, Akshaya Tritiya falls on the third tithi (lunar day) of Shukla Paksha of the Vaishakha month. Going by the Gregorian calendar, it falls somewhere around April and May. One of the most important rituals includes worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day.
Many individuals bought gold, silver, properties and other valuable things. This day is also auspicious for marriages. Worshipping Lord Kuber is seen as an auspicious practice.
