As the three pyres were burning together at Daabbari in Tripura on Friday, gloom all around was visible – people were shocked, saddened at the tragic turn of the fate Das family.

An elderly couple and their son were succumbed to injuries within a span of few hours after being attacked by another family over a land dispute. Four others were also critically; IANS reported quoting the police on Friday.

The incident occurred at Daab Bari under Kamalpur sub-division in Tripura on May 5. On the way to GB Hospital in Agartala, Rajani Das (70) succumbed to injuries on May 5 while his wife Bilasi Das (67) died at GB Hospital in the evening on the same day. Later, their injured son Pratyus Das, 41 also succumbed to injuries on early Friday morning,

Four other injured persons, including a woman, are undergoing treatment at the Dhalai District Hospital, IANS reported.

The police have detained two people in connection with the incident.

After the bodies of the couple and their son reached the village today evening, the air became heavy with a deep gloom. Everyone in the village was mourning. The gruesome killing shocked the people.

The situation became heart wrenching later in the evening as the local people bade adieu to the deceased persons and three pyres started burning together in presence of the saddened villagers. The obscure Daabbari village plunge into mass mourning at the unexpected and tragic end of three lives.
