Risa, an integral part of culture of Tripura and signature garment of the State will get Geographical Indications (GI) tagging.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, in a facebook post, wrote, “Risa will get GI Tagging. This will add a new dimension for the culture and customs of the State”.
Explaining the utility of GI Tagging, Deb wrote, GI Tagging for the Risa would be done to gain international recognition for this signature garment of the State.
The State Government will submit the necessary documents to the Union Government by next June, he wrote.
In a series of other social media posts, Deb wrote about increase in number of the SHGs – the Tripura Government is banking on SHGs to empower women and make the rural economy self-reliant.
Under the caption, ‘Filled with sparking dreams, Atmanirbhar Tripura’, the Chief Minister wrote, the number of the SHGs in Tripura has increased to 33,926 whereas number of SHGs was only 4000 during previous Left Front regime.
He also pointed out that a total of Rs 408.08 crore loans were disbursed among the SHGs during 2018-19 and 2021-22 FY.
The Chief Minister also hailed the ‘bold’ decision taken recently for the benefit of the Scheduled caste students.
Tripura – the first state in the country – will start National Scholarship Portal 2.0 for online registration of the SC students to apply for scholarships. The students will get the benefit from the current Financial Year, Deb wrote in his post.
