Singers Jayati Chakraborty and Mamomoy Bhattacharjee, reciter Debesh Thakur to perform at Agartala in Tripura on May 9 as part of 161st Rabindra Jayanti celebrations in Tripura.
The two-day-long programme commemorating Kabiguru Rabindra Nath Tagore’s 161st birth anniversary, with the initiative of the ICA department, started in Agartala on Sunday.
Apart from art and cultural competitions for the children and students, performances by the eminent artists of the State as well as of West Bengal will enthrall the music lovers.
While noted artists of the State will perform on Sunday, artists from Bengal – singers Jayati Chakraborty and Manomoy Bhattacharjee along with Bachik artist Debesh Thakur will perform at Rabindra Bhawan in Agartala on Monday.
The celebration of Rabindra Jayanti started today with sit-and-draw competition, group recitation and singing competitions along with an exhibition on Rabindra Nath Tagore was held today at Rabindra Sata Barshiki Bhawan.
In the evening, a cultural programme was held in which eminent artists of different cultural bodies will present solo and group songs, group dance, recitation and dance drama etc.
On May 9, the ‘Prabhati Kabi Pranam’ will be held at Rabindra Kanan on Monday.
Extempore speech, quiz and group dance competitions will also be held at Rabindra Bhawan on Monday. Later, in the evening, after the prize-giving ceremony, singers and Bachik Shilpi of West Bengal will perform. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb will also attend the cultural programme in the evening.
3-day Rajarshi Utsav starts on May 9
The traditional three-day State-level Rajarshi Utsav 2022 from Monday at the Old Palace at temple town Udaipur in Tripura. Agriculture Minister Pranajit Singha Roy will inaugurate the programme.
Detailing the programme, a press conference was held by chairman of Udaipur Municipal Council who is also the chairman of the Utsav Committee, Shital Chandra Majumder, Assistant Director of the ICA Manoj Debbarma and District Information Officer Suman Das. Speaking to the media, Shital Chandra Majumder said a rally would be held in which students and teachers of different schools will participate – the rally will be ended at the Palace premises following which a cultural programme will be held.
On Monday evening, Pranajit Singha Roy will formally inaugurate the Rajarshi Utsav in presence of MLAs, top officials of the District administration and other dignitaries.
During the three-day Utsav, cultural programmes, Kabi Sammelan and other programmes will be held. Several departments of the State government will open 11 exhibition stalls.
