Patients get reassured to a great extent when the behaviour of the doctors and nurses is good. It plays a big role in the speedy recovery of the patients, said Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating the `Sevajyoti-2022′ programme held on the occasion of International Nurses Day at Rabindra Bhawan in Agartala on Thursday.
The Chief Minister said, besides behaving well with the patients, the main duty of the nurses is to provide healthcare services with the virtue of patience, which is why it is essential for all nurses to have present mindedness along with good behaviour and must be able to speak kindly. Only then the relationship between the patient and nurse will be smooth which will help highly in providing treatment.
At the beginning of the programme, The Chief Minister and other dignitaries paid floral tribute to the portrait of Florence Nightingale. Deb said, people visit hospital when they are sick. At that time, it is important for doctors and nurses to provide them treatment with a smile and patience.
Education and healthcare services are important factors for the development of a state. The state government has been working from the start towards the goal to provide advanced healthcare facilities to the people of the state. It is due to the improvement in the health infrastructure of the state, the number of refer cases of patients outside the state has drastically lessened.
Complicated surgeries such as Open-heart surgery, Bypass surgery, Angioplasty, Neuro surgeries are now being performed in the main hospital of the state, GBP Hospital itself.
Speaking about the contributions and dedication of Florence Nightingale, the Chief Minister urged the nurses to follow her inspiration and work with dedication. Only then, Florence Nightingale will remain alive within us.
He said, women empowerment is important in order to build the state into a self-dependent state. The state government is working towards planning and implementing plans to empower women.
According to this policy, 33% seats have been reserved for women in government jobs in Tripura. There are also different arrangements of a special hospital for treatment of women, construction of hostel for working women and revenue relaxation for women in case of land registration.
The Chief Minister said, the women of Tripura have involved themselves in Self-Help Groups to become self-reliant. About 3 lakh 25 thousand women are involved in different SHGs in the state.
Besides, the Tripura government has planned to provide about 400 new ration shops to women to help them become self-dependent economically. Just recently, 150 ration shops have been provided to women. Such initiative is the first in Tripura.
The Chief Minister said, good behavior, diligence and belief in work generate a positive mindset in a person. This positive mindset helps a person to achieve success in life. He called on all health workers including doctors and nurses to move ahead with a positive mindset.
Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) from Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha as the Chief Guest in the programme said, it is not possible for doctors alone to provide treatment facilities to the patients without the assistance of nurses and healthcare workers. It is due to their combined efforts; it was possible to strongly fight against Covid-19 situation. Nurses toil day and night towards service to people. Even some of them have sacrificed their own lives in the fight against Covid-19. The Member of Parliament paid tribute to those nurses. Registrar Rebeka Darlong presented the annual publication of the Tripura Nursing Council in the programme. The Chief Minister also launched an online registration portal for nursing in the programme.
