Tripura police detained suspected 11 Bangladesh nationals from a Guwahati-bound bus at the ISBT in Dharmanagar under the North District on Friday. Besides, one Bangladeshi national was detained by the BSF jawans at Yakubnagar under the same district today.
After preliminary interrogation of the 11 suspected Bangladeshi nationals, police came to know that the Bangladeshis – seven men, two women and two children – had entered Indian Territory through an agent and they were travelling to Guwahati in search of work.
According to police, the Bangladeshi nationals couldn’t identify the area where they crossed over the Indo-Bangla border but they had travelled three to four hours to reach Dharmanagar ISBT.
The agent left them at the ISBT with an assurance that they would get work after reaching Guwahati. The agent, as informed by the detainees, was paid Rs. 5000 to 10000 for one person.
The detainees except the minors are- Sahidul Mollah, Md. Alamin Miah, Mohammad Mollah, Sabir Sheikh, Raju Sheikh, Ahad Miah, Rahul Sheikh, Bina Begam and Kulsum Begam.
Meanwhile, another Bangladesh national – Sarman Uddin was detained by 13-Bn BSF when he was trying to cross the border at Yakubnagar, according to SDPO Dharmanagar Saumya Debbarma. The youth has been living in the Indian Territory for the last one year.
