14 persons injured in two road mishaps
At least 14 persons including children were severely injured in two separate road mishaps at Kailashahar and Amarpur on Wednesday.
In the first incident which took place at Vidyanagar area in Kailashahar, at least nine passengers were critically injured when a Magic car met accident.
Irked at the incident local people of the area blocked the road protesting against the movement of huge traffic from the tiny village road.
Later, the agitators lifted the blockade after obtaining an assurance from the Administration.
In a separate road mishap, driver of an auto vehicle carrying passengers from Silachari in Karbook to Santikali Ashram in Amarpur lost control over the wheels and overturned at Natun Bazar area in Amarpur on Wednesday morning.
At least five persons including two children sustained injuries, three of them were critical. The critically injured persons are- Jusef Tripura (6), Animesh Tripura (11) and Raimati Tripura (22).
Ganja worth Rs 2 crore seized
Teliamura traffic police seized a huge quantity of ganja worth Rs 2 crore from a lorry at Hawaibari check-post under Teliamura police station on Wednesday evening.
During routine vehicle checking, the Teliamura Traffic Police stopped a 14-wheeler lorry, which started its journey from Agartala, at the Hawaibari check-post.
When searched, police recovered a total of 2177 kg ganja from the vehicle.
The estimated market value of the seized ganja is around Rs 2 crore, SDPO Sunacharan Jamatia told reporters.
Wife hacks husband
In an incident of domestic violence one person was attacked by his wife and sustained injuries at Udaipur on Tuesday night. The incident took place at Chandrapur Gram Panchayat of Udaipur. Sources said that Pintu Ghosh of Chandrapur came back to house after completion of his daily work at night on Tuesday. He had an altercation his wife Rinku Sarkar Ghosh.
Later the altercation took a nasty turn as both got involved in fist-fighting. Meantime, Rinku brought a dao from the kitchen and hit on Pintu’s neck. As he raised an alarm, Pintu’s mother rushed there and snatched the dao from Rinku. Local people took Pintu to Gomati District Hospital. At present Pintu is under treatment. Rinku absconded after the incident.
Police started search to seek out Rinku. Pintu’s mother said the couple has a son.
