With Assembly Polls are ensuing, Tripura Pradesh Congress is aiming to rebuild its women wing and highlighting ‘increasing rate’ of atrocities against women under the BJP rule in the State. To this end, Mahila Congress of the State will launch movements against the incumbent government and garner public support, party leaders said.
Addressing the press conference Agartala Congress Bhawan, Tripura Mahila Congress in-charge Puja Roy Chowdhury on Thursday alleged that the honor of the women across the state is being disrespected under the BJP government.
“At a time when the Prime Minister of India had raised a slogan of Beti Bachao Beti Padao, the women of this state and also in other parts of the country are falling victims to the crime against them – it is growing at an alarming rate under the rule of the BJP government here,” she alleged.
Puja Roy Chowdhury said, “In view of the overall situation of the state, we the Mahila Congress have decided to visit door to door to make the women and mother understand and aware them of the current situation of the state, where they are not safe and their safety and security is under question mark.”
She slammed the government over failing to meet the pre-poll promises, where they assured of jobs in every household. The unemployed youths of this state including the 10,323 teachers are being deprived at large, she alleged and questioned the role of the former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
She also questioned the removal of Biplab Kumar Deb from CM’s post and asked for an answer as the people of this state want to know the face behind the mask.”
The Congress leader also slammed the Trinamool Congress party and alleged that Mamata Banerjee, who is already deep necked in corruption in Bengal, is now trying to gain ground here in Tripura to bring more destruction to this state.
