Tripura Pradesh BJP urged its workers, supporters and well wisher not to be provoked and not to fall in trap of other political parties. This statement came up in wake of an incident of effigy burning of Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the supremo of regional party of the State Tipra Motha at Amarpur on Sunday (Jun 12 last).
The effigy burning incident happened while some of the indigenous people reported to be supporters of the BJP were protesting against attacks on BJP MP Rebati Tripura, Janajati Minister Rampada Jamatia and BJP state vice president Patal Kanya Jamatia recently.
Urging party workers on Monday to stay away from reacting on provocation, Janajati Minister Rampada Jamatia came down heavily on Tipra Motha.
Criticising it, Jamatia said alleged , those who attended rallies of CPM on earlier occasions, have now became Tipra Motha supporters and these people attacked Rebati Tripura, himself and Patal Kanya. The objective of these goons is to disrupt peace and harmony by creating terror to gain political mileage.
“Effigy burning is nothing new – when, I supported the Citizenship Amendment Act in 2019, some of the activists of regional parties burnt my effigy at different place. However, BJP does not support such things”, Jamatia told while addressing media in Agartala on Monday.
Jamatia also pointed out that despite repeated attacks on him as well as the MP and Patal Kanya, BJP supporters did not retaliate. He said, opposition parties are conspiring against the ruling Government and trying to come to the power through back doors.
He alerted party karyakartas and urged them to avoid provocations.
The Janajati Minister highlighted the developmental initiatives taken by the incumbent BJP government for the welfare of the Indigenous people of the State. He appealed to all to maintain peace, so that conspiracy to disturb development can be foiled.
Echoing the same, BJP Spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee alleged opposition parties are active for a shadow alliance – that is why it is important to remain watchful and avoid being provoked by opposition parties.
Bhattacharjee asserted the party is working to get the details of effigy burning incident. He too said BJP does not endorse such activities.
