Schools in Tripura to remain shut on Jun 18

 

The Directorate of Secondary Education announced has a holiday on June 18 for all government and government-aided schools and madrasas in Tripura due to heavy rains.

“It is notified that the Government, Govt aided Schools including Madrassas ( HS, High, SB & JB) shall remain closed on 18-06-2022 (Saturday) considering the heavy rainfall all over the state”, Joint Secretary to the Govt of Tripura, Chandrani Chandran, IAS said in a notification issued today.

 

CM reviews situation 

 

Meantime, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha went to Integrated Command and Control Centre at Indranagar in Agartala and inspected the emerging situation in Agartala after heavy rainfall today.

Dr Saha said the IMD has served a warning that rains with thunderstorms and lightning in Tripura are likely till June 21 next.

He also said the administration has been asked to take steps according to the emerging situation.

The Chief Minister urged people to seek help from administration.

 

Fire men rescue 37 stranded school children

 

Day long downpour hit the normal city life. People, especially school children had a tough time. However, Fire Service personnel were quick to react and rescue the stranded students.

Total 37 children of a private school were rescued by the Firemen. Boats were pressed into service to rescue stranded persons to safety. 

Total 16 pumps are in operation to flush accumulated rain water from the city, Principal Secretary Revenue Department, Punit Agarwal told the media today.

Besides, six mobile Diesel pumps are in use in strategic locations.
