Water level receding at Manu river : SDM
The water in the Manu River is flowing at a normal level at Kailashahar, said SDM of Kailashahar subdivision Pradip Sarkar on Sunday. He said , the water in the Manu River is receding since morning on Sunday adding that the water level receded at 10 cm per hour.
Sources said that a delegation of administrative authority of the subdivision led by SDM Pradip Sarkar and DCM Biswajit Das visited the water logged situation at Srirampur, Bhagaban Nagar and different areas. Later they monitored the water level at the Manu river. In the context of damaging fencing of Indo –Bangla Border at Samarurpar area SDM said, DWS has already been instructed to start repairing. He further said, no area or house was inundated by rainwater at Kailashahar and none became homeless here.
Mother-in-law assaulted by daughter-in-law
In a bizarre incident of domestic violence, a woman was charged with physically torturing her mother-in-law at Khowai police station on Sunday. Jayashree Paul, a resident of Subhas Park area under Khowai police station lodged the complaint against her daughter-in-law Jharna Paul on Saturday.
According to Jayashree Paul, her daughter-in-law, Jharna Paul physical harassed and humiliated her over a long-running feud on Saturday. This left Jayshree Pal injured and she had to undergo treatment at Khowai District Hospital after the incident, sources reported.
Police registered a case under section 106 of the CRPC on the basis of the mother-in-law’s complaint, said the in-charge officer of Khowai police station Udyam Debbarma.
Electrocution: One dead, one hurt
In three separate incidents, one boy died and two others were injured by electrocution and thunderbolt in the state during the last 24 hours.
Sources said that a boy, Sayan Roy (15) son of Ranjit Roy, died on spot by electrocution from a torn power supply line at Kamalapur village under Pecharthal Police Station area on Sunday. The incident took place when Sayan went for cattle grazing.
In another incident, one youth was injured seriously by electrocution at his house at Chandrapur Baldakhal area in West district on Sunday. The name of the youth is Akash Debnath (19). He was electrocuted when he was working at the house. Now he is under treatment at G.B. Hospital.
