Amidst drum beatings and slogans, a massive padayatra was held in Agartala in support of two BJP candidates – Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and Dr Ashok Sinha on Sunday evening.
The padayatra was led by Assam Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sharma, BJP MP Locket Chatterjee – both arrived in Agartala today- and Former Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb.
A confident looking Dr Saha waved hands at the on lookers assembled at the roadside, rooftops and balcony.
Chief Whip of State Assembly, MLAs and Party leaders along with the party activists raced through the city main roads.
Before joining the rally, Dr. Saha accompanied by the Assam Chief Minister and party leaders offered puja at Durgabari. The Padayatra received huge response from the city dwellers.
The Assam Chief Minister hailed the BJP Government in Tripura and said, peace and development have been restored in the state over the past four years. He said the BJP government worked more than the promises made in the vision document.
He also asserted, all four BJP candidates who are contesting the by-polls would secure victory while Dr. Manik Saha would win the election with a huge margin.
Later, the Assam Chief Minister took part in an election rally held at Hindi Higher Secondary School in support of the party’s Agartala candidate- Dr. Ashok Sinha.
Taking to social media, he wrote, “Delighted to see the enthusiasm of our karyakartas and confident that our party is headed for a certain victory.”
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, former CM Biplab Kumar Deb, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury among other leaders were present in the poll campaign.
The Assam Chief Minister was offered a warm reception by Tripura BJP karyakartas at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala. Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury and others including MLA Krishnadhan Das and BJYM state president Nabadal Banik were present.
“Humbled to receive such a rousing welcome from BJP Tripura karyakartas at Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Airport, Agartala. Their energy and enthusiasm always inspire me,” the Assam Chief Minister wrote in a social media post.
Soon after arriving in the city, the Assam Chief Minister held courtesy meetings with Dr. Manik Saha and Biplab Kumar Deb and discussed various matters.
