The leader of opposition and CPI-M Politburo member Manik Sarkar fired verbal salvos at the ruling BJP State and Central government over the prevailing economic condition of the country.
During his 40-minute long speech while addressing the 4th annual conference of Tripura Hawkers’ Union here at Bhanu Ghosh Smriti Bhawan at Agartala on Wednesday (July 27),
Sarkar spoke in details on several economic issues including price hike of essentials, fall of Indian rupee against US dollar, unemployment and several other economic issues of the country.
The prices of essentials in Indian market are sky rocketing resulting decline in purchasing power people – this is a major issue. Amidst price hike in domestic market, Indian rupee is sinking against the dollar. Taken together, these are posing major economic problems for the country which will have both the short-term and long-term effects, Sarkar opined.
In this connection, he also pointed out unemployment and other issues and held BJP government’s ‘wrong’ policies responsible for the overall poor performance of the economy.
Lashing out at the BJP governments, the CPM leader said, “The unemployment rate is rising at a very alarming rate in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured 2-crore jobs per year in 2014. The unemployment is also a major issue in Tripura. General workers, labourers, migrating labourers farmers, small time traders – all are reeling under predicament due to the job crisis.”
He continued and said, “The country is reeling under a very complex situation which started since demonetisation. After getting detached from the people, the BJP government, which is worried of mass movement by the agitated people across the country, is now trying to create division among the people of different communities, where the minorities are largely attacked and deprived,” Sarkar alleged.
Sarkar urged the workers of the Tripura Hawkers’ Union to intensify their fight against the BJP government, which perhaps also bring an attack on the constitution of the country. Sarkar called for a united struggle against the ruling BJP.
