Agartala August 12: The Indian Army has completed a specialised tactical training programme for CISF personnel posted at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala. The initiative focused on improving coordination between the two forces and strengthening security around the region’s key aviation facility.
The Red Shield Division conducted the programme under the Military Civil Fusion initiative. The training began on July 27 and continued until August 8. It featured a comprehensive 13-day module aimed at improving operational preparedness and tactical coordination.
The programme also focused on protecting critical aviation infrastructure from evolving security threats.
Training Covers Counter-Drone and Contingency Response
Army instructors provided both classroom-based and practical training to the participating CISF personnel. The sessions addressed several areas linked to airport and perimeter security.
The training covered advanced access control and measures to strengthen airport perimeters. It also included counter-sabotage techniques and methods to deal with drone-related threats.

Another key component involved high-speed response during contingencies. The personnel also trained in coordinated strategies for protecting important public and aviation assets.
The modules were designed to combine the Army’s tactical expertise with the CISF’s specialised responsibility for aviation security.
Joint Exercise Strengthens Operational Coordination
Officials said the closing phase of the programme demonstrated the benefits of joint training. CISF personnel displayed tactical proficiency, physical endurance and improved coordination during the exercise.
The initiative is part of the Army’s broader effort to build operational capabilities with Central Armed Police Forces. Such programmes also help security agencies develop a more coordinated response to potential threats.
The Army and Assam Rifles have previously conducted similar training programmes for CISF personnel.
CISF Guards Key Northeast Airports
The latest training is expected to strengthen the threat-response capabilities of the CISF contingent at MBB Airport. The enhanced skills will support efforts to maintain secure aviation operations in Tripura and the wider region.
The CISF is responsible for security at most airports across Northeast India. This includes MBB Airport in Agartala.
