Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders claimed on Wednesday (July 27) that BJP in Tripura would return to its original position before the 2018 Assembly polls and would be able to capture only 1.57 per cent vote share as it did prior to 2018 polls.
The claim of the Congress came while National general secretary of BJP, BL Santhosh was engaged in preparing a roadmap to ensure victory of BJP in 2023 Assembly polls.
Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders and supporters continued their protest against the ED for another day on Wednesday for ED’s grilling of Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi.
After the protest programme, a joining programme was held at the Congress bhawan in which some BJP functionaries from Mandai, Majlishpur and Khayerpur joined Congress in presence of Pradesh Congress chief Birajit Sinha, Cong MLA Sudip Roy Barman and other Congress leaders.
Welcoming the new entrants, Congress leaders claimed, “Not just common people, even the BJP Karyakartas are feeling frustrated with the party because of BJP’s dirty politics. Considering the public anger and frustration, it is obvious that BJP would return to its original 1.57% vote share”.
Congress leaders also vehemently criticized the BJP for being ‘vindictive’ and framing false cases against Sonia and Rahul Gandhi as the duo raised voice against BJP’s ‘anti-people’ policies.
Turning to the prevailing condition, the Congress leaders alleged the law and ordr condition in the State is deteriorating every day. Recently, BJP miscreants beat up a woman in Sachindra Lal Charipara area in Agartala. In Sonamura, miscreants kidnapped a minor girl in front of local people. Besides, there were numerous instances of violence and atrocities on the opposition supporters during the last 4 years of BJP regime.
The Congress leaders reiterated need for unity among the Opposition parties to oust BJP from power in Tripura.
