National general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, BL Santhosh attended party’s State core committee meeting in Agartala before ending his two-day Tripura visit on Wednesday (July 27) and stressed strengthening booth level organization for upcoming 2023 Assembly Polls.

 

The meeting focused detailed analysis and discussions on the recently held by-polls to four Assembly constituencies – Agartala, Town Bordowali, Surma and Jubarajnagar. Except Agartala seat, BJP won in all the three assembly seats.   

 

Besides, various organizational matters to strengthen the party base from booth to Pradesh levels and preparations for ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign were discussed in length, the release said.

Chief Minister and BJP state president Dr. Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik, former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, state observer Vinod Sonkar and party’s general secretary (org) for Tripura and Assam units- Phanindranath Sharma among other members of the core committee were present.

The Central leaders held detailed discussion to assess the ground reality of the party and steps required to ensure victory for the 2nd term in ensuing Assembly polls 2023.

Meanwhile, another important organizational meeting between the BJP central leaders and Members of District Council (MDCs) was held at the State Guest House on Wednesday. Considering the rise of Tipra Motha in District Council areas, discussion with the MDCs assumed importance.

The Chief Minister, state observer and party’s general secretary (org) for Tripura and Assam units were also present.

The organizational matters as well as development activities in Janajati areas were discussed in the meeting, according to party sources.

Meanwhile,the BJP central leader already held meetings with the state officer bearers, ministers, MLAs, District and Morcha presidents soon after arriving in the state on Tuesday.

It was expected that name of a new president would be announced after Santhosh’s deliberations with the party leaders, MLAs and MPs. However, it seems the decision on party’s state nominee would be decided, if at all the party leaders deem it fit to change the incumbent president Dr Manik Saha who is also the Chief Minister of the State, later on.
