Several programmes were organized in Tripura to observe World Hepatitis Day on Thursday(July 28). On this day, the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura (HFT) observed its 20th foundation day with the theme – ‘Bringing Care Closer to You: Hepatitis cannot wait’.
The HFT organized a programme in Agartala today in which Minister Ramprasad Pal MLA Dr. Dilip Das, eminent doctor Dr. Pradip Bhowmik accompanied by the members of HFT, doctors and medical workers were present.
Speaking on this occasion, Ramprasad Pal hailed the initiative of the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura and said that a large section of people belonging to the poor families are able to go through their health check up free of cost through the different activities of the organization.
In his speech, Dr. Pradip Bhowmik pitched to intensify a joint effort so as to rescue the youths of the state from the clutches of drug addiction and bring back to normal life.
The HFT is committed to work primarily in the field of liver disease and gradually extending its periphery to many other health programs with the basic idea to develop mass awareness regarding health problems.
Earlier, Unity Gastro Care and Diagnostic Centre organized a bi-cycle rally in Agartala to mark the celebration of World Hepatitis Day.
As part of the observance of the World Hepatitis Day in Tripura, a health camp was organized at Phulbarikandi School premises in Unakoti district with the initiatives of the District Health and Family Welfare Samiti and Muraibari Primary Health Centre.
Speaking to the media, Dr Soumyajit Guha told the media that tests for Hepatitis B and C were conducted on 124 patients. Moreover, free of cost health check up and medicines were provided.
In other parts of the State, several programmes were held to generate awareness among the people were held. At Charilam under Sepahijala, a sit and draw completion was held among the children.
