President Droupadi Murmu will arrive in Agartala on September 9 next to join Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College’s platinum jubilee celebration.

 

Education minister Ratanlal Nath on Wednesday chaired a preparatory meeting at the civil secretariat to observe platinum jubilee celebration of the MBB College from September 5 to 9.

 

As part of the celebration, a colourful rally will be organized on September 5 at 6:30 am. The rally will traverse through various roads in the capital city. An exhibition gallery of the college will also be inaugurated on the same day.

 

The other decisions taken in the meeting included sit and draw competition, Swachata Abhiyan and tree plantation drive, sweets and fruits distribution among the patients of cancer hospital, educational kit distribution to an orphanage, Inter-college Football Tournament, cultural events, blood donation camp and seminar etc.

 

The closing ceremony will take place on September 9 in presence of President Droupadi Murmu, Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other dignitaries. As part of the valedictory function, a cultural event will be held where the artists from Kolkata will perform.

 

Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, chairman of Tripura Tea Development Corporation Santosh Saha, former VC of Tripura University Dr. Arunoday Saha, secretary of Higher Education department Abhishek Singh, Director N.C. Sharma, Director of ICA department Ratan Biswas, former Principal of MBB College Prof. Mihir Deb, senior journalist Sanjib Deb and others were present in the preparatory meeting.
