One BSF jawan sustained bullet injuries after NLFT militants fired on him near Tripura-Bangladesh border.  

 

The jawan posted in Simanapur 2 under 145 battalion of BSF under Anandabazar police station in North Tripura district. The injured jawan was brought to Agartala in a chopper. 

 

According to available information, multiple bullets hit the jawan’s body. 

 

The BSF jawans were patrolling in the bordering areas this morning as per daily routine when the NLFT opened fire.  However the name and other details of the jawan is yet to be identified.

 

It is learnt, NLFT militants from across the border fired at the BSF jawans following which one BSF jawans received bullet injuries.

 

Later, other BSF jawans also retaliated.  As a result, the group of extremists fled from the scene. 

 

North Tripura District Superintendent of Police rushed to spot of occurrence with a large police force.  BSF DIG went to the spot in a helicopter.  

 

The injured BSF jawan is being brought to Agartala in a chopper. 

 

According to sources,  the injured jawan breathed his last few minutes ago.
