Amidst roaring slogans hailing ‘Bharat Mata’, Rajya Sabha MP from Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb addressed a lively gathering of Janajati People at Thalchhera under Amarpur in Tripura. And, the party leaders visibly enjoyed the ‘thunderous’ support from the Janajati men and women.
On the day of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas on November 15, Deb highlighted multifaceted plans of initiatives of the BJP-led State and Central government launched for holistic development of Janajati people of Tripura.
In his speech, the RS MP pointed out that BJP ensured peace in the State. As the dark blanket of insurgency was completely wiped out during the BJP regime, developmental works in the Janajati areas started and ethnic communities are working hard to grab the opportunities and prosper.
He also underscored that the trust and faith of the Janajati people were hurt for narrow political interests in the past. In this connection, he alleged Janajati people were exploited and deprived during the LF regime and the BJP government freed them from the clutches of the communists.
With Assembly polls ensuing, political activities in the State, in particular in Janajati dominated areas are increasing. Constituting around 30 per cent of the total population, Janajati people are influencing factors, at least, in 20 seats out of the total 60 Assembly seats.
Biplab Deb who successfully campaigned in Janajati hamlets extensively in the run up to the 2018 Assembly Polls, hit the right cord with the people as men and women clapped repeatedly during his speech.
In the 2018 Assembly polls, IPFT was a strong regional party which allied with the BJP before the polls. With the ‘Tipra Land’ slogan, IPFT managed to garner strong support for the alliance in 2018 polls. However, situation has changed rapidly after the emergence of Tipra Motha. Instead of ‘Tipra Land’, Tipra Motha has given a call for ‘Greater Tipra Land’ – unexpectedly, the slogan has caught the attention of many Janajati people.
With IPFT reducing to zero in hill District Council polls, BJP’s Janajati Morcha embarked in a campaign to build its organization among the Janajati people.
According to Political analyst, spontaneous presence of Janajati people at Thalchhera in Biplab Deb’s meeting may provide further boost and BJP is on the right track in consolidating its position in Hill areas as well.
In his Deb slammed Congress and CPIM hard and alleged both are directionless.
