The Opposition Party in Tripura, CPIM criticized the ruling BJP for non-fulfillment of promises and demanded that BJP should come out with a report card on promises made in the vision document prior to the 2018 Assembly Polls in the State.
The ruling party recently started a campaign programme in which party activists visited households with a report card highlighting government’s achievements and implementation of different projects.
In reference to this, CPIM State secretary Jitendra Choudhury while addressing a party programme at Sabroom under South Tripura said the report card should also focus on the 299 promises mentioned in the Vision Document which BJP released before the Assembly polls in the State in 2018 last.
“I challenge them to publish the report card of Vision document promises”, he said.
Choudhury slammed the government on unemployment, law and order condition and crime against women in the State.
“During the last 58 months of its rule, the government failed to introduce new developmental projects. Moreover, the government did not fill up the 50000 vacant posts in various departments, which they promised to do after the first cabinet meeting of the BJP-led coalition government,” he alleged.
On the law and order condition, Choudhury, once again, came down heavily on the BJP-led government. He alleged, the BJP had throttled democracy in the State and Opposition party workers are regularly coming under attacks unleashed by the ruling party supporters. According to him, a jungle raj is prevailing in the State during the last 58 months.
Continuing his criticism, Chowdhury blamed the ruling government for alleged increase in the incidences of crime against women in Tripura.
The CPIM State secretary urged the people, in particular the young generation to raise voice against the BJP government by voting out it from the power.
Other CPIM leaders also addressed the gathering and appealed the people to be united and extend their support to the CPIM for restoration of democracy in the State.
