Prime Minister Narendra Modi held in a virtual webcast with students from Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) across the nation on Thursday (May 11) as part of the National Technology Day celebrations.
All the students from Mungiakami Class 12th School in the remote region of Tripura had the opportunity to partake in the virtual webcast by the Prime Minister on National Technology Day. The school received recognition from the State Government for its achievements in ATL project.
The ATL project, initially launched in 2019 by Niti Aayog, encompassed 10,000 schools throughout India, including 34 schools in Tripura. Among these institutions was the Mungiakami 12th Standard School in the Khowai district, which joined the initiative in September 2021 under the Teliamura sub-division.
The primary aim of the ATL project was to equip students, particularly those residing in remote villages and girls attending school, with the necessary skills to operate and fabricate advanced machinery in the future.
Manoj Debbarma, the school’s headmaster, expressed his satisfaction with the students’ progress over the past two years.
Under the guidance of the ATL’s responsible teacher, the students successfully completed numerous projects, including drone flying, robotics engineering, and 3D printing.
These accomplishments were showcased on a dedicated YouTube channel. Recognizing their endeavors, the state government honored Mungiakami 12th Standard School as the top school in the Information & Technology category in 2022.
The ATL project has effectively brought technological education to underserved regions of India, and the achievements of Mungiakami 12th Standard School exemplify this success.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the National Technology Day 2023 program at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on May 11. The event, which will extend until May 14, emphasizes the significance of Atal Tinkering Labs in fostering innovation among the nation’s youth.
During the inauguration, the Prime Minister highlighted the remarkable participation in the ATL initiative, with over 75 lakh students actively engaged in more than 12 lakh innovation projects.
This widespread involvement showcases the emergence of young scientists from schools, reaching even the most remote corners of the country. Prime Minister Modi commended the ATL labs for nurturing a culture of innovation and serving as catalysts for India’s progress.
