In a bid to showcase the exceptional flavor and distinctiveness of Tripura’s renowned “Queen” pineapples to the world, the state’s agriculture department, under the leadership of Minister Ratan Lal Nath, has embarked on a determined mission.
The succulent fruit, which holds the coveted Geographical Indication (GI) status, is a point of pride for the entire region.
Minister Ratan Lal Nath expressed his delight, emphasizing that the exclusive “Queen” pineapple variety can only be found in the verdant fields of Tripura, setting it apart from any other pineapple cultivated across the country.
To amplify the reach of this delectable fruit, an ambitious initiative has been launched to showcase it at the prestigious Delhi Haat Mela, a bustling fair that attracts visitors from far and wide.
A dedicated team from the agriculture department has already made their way to Delhi, carrying with them an abundant supply of these mouth-watering pineapples.
The Minister underscored the economic benefits that promoting this high-demand fruit will bring to the state, along with the positive impact on the livelihoods of local farmers.
He further revealed that the official launch ceremony, slated for the upcoming Thursday in the national capital, will be graced by the esteemed presence of Union Minister of Agriculture, Narendra Singh Tomar.
Notably, over the past couple of months, an extensive marketing campaign has been underway, targetting the attention of shoppers and passersby in various shopping malls and strategic locations throughout Delhi.
Ratan Lal Nath also unveiled plans to collaborate closely with the central government to enhance pineapple productivity within the state, while simultaneously exploring potential export opportunities to foreign markets.
This concerted effort to propel Tripura’s “Queen” pineapples onto the global stage underscores the state’s unwavering commitment to leveraging its unique agricultural heritage.
With the invaluable GI recognition and robust governmental support, Tripura aims to bolster its economy while empowering local farmers to thrive in an increasingly competitive market.
