Rajasthan Congress leader and former deputy chief minister, Sachin Pilot, has expressed his determination to break the longstanding tradition of alternate party governments in the state, spanning 25 years.
He emphasized the party’s goal of returning to power and stated that they will work together cohesively to achieve this objective. Following a meeting with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Pilot highlighted the extensive and meaningful discussions held over a period of four hours, focusing on the upcoming Assembly election in Rajasthan and devising an effective strategy.
Pilot emphasized the need to change the trend of alternate governments between the Congress and BJP over the past 25 years. He expressed optimism about replicating the success of the Congress party in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and the 2018 Rajasthan elections. Pilot further affirmed the party’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the people and the party workers’ dedication to reaching every household in the state.
Regarding his demands related to the paper leak issue and corruption during the previous BJP government, Pilot stated that the party has taken note of his concerns and has pledged to take appropriate action. He highlighted the significance of combating corruption, adding that the Congress party will make it a focal point in the upcoming elections.
Pilot assured that he will fulfill any role assigned to him by the party, reiterating his commitment to serving in various capacities, both at the central and state levels. Party leaders indicate that the Congress has made efforts to reconcile the differences between Pilot and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot ahead of the crucial assembly polls in the state. A comprehensive proposal or formula is expected to be announced in the following week, which will determine Pilot’s involvement either in Delhi or within the state unit. (Edited)
