Agartala: The state has added another model village to its rural development journey with the inauguration of the Bijayanagar Smart and Boutique Gram Panchayat in Mohanpur.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said the development of villages remains essential for the country’s long-term progress.

The minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently focused on making villages financially stronger, socially inclusive and better connected through infrastructure.

Since then, 543 houses have been completed.
Another 89 houses have already received approval.
The expansion of drinking water infrastructure has also been significant.
Earlier, only 35 households had access to piped water, and most of those connections served homes located along roadside areas.
Today, 846 households receive drinking water through pipeline connections.
Road infrastructure has improved considerably as well.
The village earlier had only one blacktopped road.
It now has seven roads covering more than 16 kilometres.
Sanitation has also become a priority.
The minister said proper toilet facilities were once unavailable for many residents.
The government has since expanded toilet construction across the village to improve hygiene and public health.

During his address, Nath said the government wants every eligible family to benefit from welfare schemes.
He assured residents that no deserving beneficiary would be left out of development programmes. According to him, the government’s objective is to extend housing, drinking water and other essential services to every household.
