A new case of marital desertion has emerged in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, echoing the recent viral story of Jyoti Maurya, who left her husband after becoming a Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
Ravindra Kumar, a resident of Meja, has accused his wife Reshma, who was recently appointed as a Constable in the Uttar Pradesh Police, of abandoning him following her job placement.
According to Ravindra, Reshma had previously relied on him for financial support, leading him to sell one of his lands to meet her expenses.
Additionally, he claimed to have supported her education by paying for her graduation fees.
However, Reshma denied these allegations and stated that Ravindra had subjected her to physical abuse on multiple occasions, opting to remain silent to avoid public humiliation.
The couple got married in 2017, and their relationship remained harmonious during the first year.
Ravindra worked at a company located outside Uttar Pradesh, while Reshma dedicated her time to preparing for examinations at home.
However, trouble arose a year after their marriage when Reshma secured a position in the Uttar Pradesh Police.
Ravindra asserted that Reshma began distancing herself from him and his family after her selection.
The situation escalated when Ravindra did not return with Reshma during their visit to Ghazipur, prompting his worried family to file a complaint at the Meja police station, suspecting an unfortunate incident.
Expressing his willingness to forgive and reconcile, Ravindra shared his hope that Reshma would return to him.
His mother also expressed a desire to resolve any future family issues if Reshma decided to come back, emphasizing that they had treated her like a daughter and supported her education.
When asked if she would consider reuniting with her husband, Reshma responded that she would do so only if Ravindra could restore her tarnished reputation. (Edited)
