Chief Minister of Tripura Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, revealed on Wednesday that the state government is deliberating significant decisions concerning fees and donations in private schools in the State. 

In order to tackle this issue, the government is contemplating the establishment of a committee to oversee the matter and explore the potential implementation of regulations for private schools. 

Tripura-CM-Private-SchoolsProf. Dr. Manik Saha, shared this crucial update during the third day of the ongoing four-day long budget session in the state assembly on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister made the statement in response to a question raised by MLA Birajit Sinha of Congress and MLA Ranjit Debbarma of TIPRA Motha Party. 

Both MLAs expressed their concerns about the affordability of fees for parents in private schools, especially in the rural areas and the matter of donations. 

The Chief Minister, who also serves as the Education Minister of the state, affirmed the government’s intention to form a committee to address these concerns.

“The objective is to ensure that fees imposed by private schools are reasonable and within the financial capabilities of parents.

“However, it is acknowledged that public and private schools cannot be equated in this regard”.

“The state government is presently exploring the possibility of introducing regulations that are specifically tailored for private schools,” said the Chief Minister.

He also expressed his concern about the ‘donations’ in many of the private run schools. 

The Tripura government is actively taking measures to address concerns related to fees and donations in private schools. The government’s focus on establishing a committee and considering regulations reflects its dedication to improving the accessibility and affordability of education for parents in the state.
