National Press Day is observed on November 16 every year in India to commemorate a free and responsible press.
Along with the entire country, National Press Day is observed in Tripura in line with the theme for National Press Day 2023 – “Media in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”.
The State-level program has been held in Agartala where a seminar on the central theme of the Day will be organized today evening.
It was on this day that the Press Council of India started functioning as a moral watchdog to ensure that the press maintains high standards and is not fettered by any influence or threats. Since the year 1997, the Council has commemorated the day in a significant way through seminars with relevant themes.
