The ruling coalition in Tripura is expanding its base in ST reserved East Lok Sabha constituency as Opposition especially TIPRA Motha camp is showing cracks.
In a major boost for the BJP in Tripura, 168 voters from 63 families joined the party in Khasmai Reang Para under Ampi Nagar 41 constituency on Saturday.
On the same day, BJP’s coalition partner in the State, IPFT also managed to trigger a split in the Opposition camp.
At least 90 voters from 30 families in 29-Krishnapur Assembly Constituency had joined the ruling BJP’s alliance partner IPFT on Saturday ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
According to the BJP and IPFT sources, disgruntled supporters of the TIPRA Motha Party (TMP) jumped to ruling coalition camp today. New entrants to the BJP and IPFT, alleged TMP grossly failed to fulfill its promises relating to formation of Greater Tipraland.
In the Ampi, the new members were welcomed by TRPC chairperson Patal Kanya Jamatia and Ampi mandal president Shibnath Jamatia, who praised them for choosing the BJP. They urged them to work sincerely for the party and its vision of development.
Speaking at the event, PK Jamatia slammed the TIPRA Motha.
She alleged, “Tipra Motha has failed to provide the basic amenities to the people of TTAADC. They are living in misery, without water, road, education, and other facilities. There is no development in the backward communities of TTAADC. Only BJP can bring progress and prosperity to the needy people of rural Tripura and the indigenous people. They should support the BJP government for the betterment of TTAADC.”
In another joining event, IPFT MLA and Minister Sukla Charana Noatia welcomed the newly joined voters with the party flag on their hands here in a joining programme at Bilaiham Reang Para area in the Teliamura subdivision.
The minister, accompanied by the IPFT leaders and workers distributed blankets among the villagers.
IPFT state committee general secretary Swapan Debbarma, Mungiakami Block Chairman Sunil Debbarma among others were present in this blanket distribution and joining programme on Saturday.
