Former Opposition leader of Tripura and CPIM Politburo member Manik Sarkar fired verbal salvos at the ruling BJP over new recruitment policy in Indian Army. He also slammed the government on its '2 crore jobs' promise.
He was speaking at an election rally held at Natun Nagar in support of Congress nominated INDI Alliance candidate for the West LS seat on Sunday.
Alleging that rate of growth of unemployment in the country during the last 10 years of the BJP era suppressed all records. In this connection he criticized the government for going for contractual employment instead of permanent recruitment.
In this connection, Sarkar referred to the new recruitment policy of the government in the Indian army through which recruited personnel would laid off after 2-2.6 years of service.
He also mentioned that the Congress party's poll manifesto promised revoking this new recruitment policy in army if a new government is voted to power in 2024 LS polls.
In an attempt to woo the young voters, Sarkar also referred to BJP's poll promises of providing two crore jobs in a year.
"In 2014, BJP tried to mislead the youths of the country by promising two crore jobs per annum. But, where is jobs?", he asked.
In terms of number of youths, India is a front runner in the world. But the incumbent Government is not utilising them, he asserted.
Continuing his criticism, the CPIM Politburo member alleged the youths of the country are the worst sufferers under the present dispensation.
"The youths will have to understand the plot of the present dispensation and take decisions in a judicious manner in this election", Sarkar said and urged them to stride forward with the determination of defeating the present government.
Sarkar also mentioned issues relating to price hikes, farmers demands, alleged threat to democracy and constitution.
