Amidst the destruction and despair caused by the unprecedented rains in Tripura, a ray of hope emerged in the form of countless Good Samaritans.
As nature’s fury inflicted immense suffering on both humans and animals, these unsung heroes selflessly extended a helping hand to those in distress.
In a remarkable display of bravery and benevolence, two youths from Kalyanpur under the Khowai District of Tripura, Shibabrata Roy and Maran Biswas, emerged as heroes.
When the raging Khowai River tore apart the dilapidated Sanghati Setu hanging bridge at Ghilatali, two teenagers found themselves trapped and frantically crying for help.
Without hesitation, Roy and Biswas jumped into the turbulent waters, reaching the stranded boys and saving their lives by bringing them safely to shore.
The people of Kalyanpur have since saluted the courageous actions of Roy and Biswas.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha shared a poignant example of such kindness during a challenging time on Wednesday.
In a social media post, he uploaded a photo depicting a confused dog standing on a cart as the cart puller wading through waterlogged road.
Dr Saha captioned it as: “Floods can’t dampen compassion! This cart puller’s selfless act of rescuing a dog from the water-logged streets of Agartala is a heartwarming reminder of humanity’s strength and resilience. Kudos to this unsung hero for showing us that even in the toughest times, kindness and empathy can prevail!”
In another heart touching gesture, NSS volunteers of Gandachhara HS+2 School joined with the administration to rescue and distribute relief materials to flood affected people.
The empathy demonstrated by the future of the country – the NSS Volunteers – meant a lot to people battered by nature’s fury.
Dr Saha also shared another piece of information which demonstrates compassionate attitude of Government officials and volunteers to all beings during a crisis period.
He wrote, “Amidst this heavy rainfall, the state administration is not only striving to protect human lives and property but is also making every effort to ensure the safety of livestock”.
Dr Saha, then uploaded photo of a cow which gave birth to a calf at a shelter house in the Gomati District of Tripura and thanked the administration for valuing life of domestic animals too.
The State is witnessing selfless efforts of frontline workers the NDRF, SDRF and security personnel alongwith volunteers and municipality workers who are battling against the odds to rescue flood victims risking their own life.
The Chief Minister had already mentioned their contributions and hailed their efforts. He even directed concerned ensure well being of the frontline workers so that they don’t fall ill while serving the people.
Of course, there are many more such glowing instances by individuals or youths – it the zeal of these youths that would stride forward Tripura.
