In an attempt to boost connectivity, a direct flight service between Agartala and Hyderabad was inaugurated on Monday. The inaugural event took place at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport, where Tripura’s Governor, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, officially launched the Indigo flight service. This new route is set to enhance travel between the northeastern region and southern India, benefiting both the local population and travelers from neighboring Bangladesh.

During the ceremony, Governor Reddy expressed his gratitude to Indigo Airlines on behalf of the people of Tripura. “This direct flight service is a significant development for both Agartala and Hyderabad, and I encourage everyone to make full use of it,” said the Governor.

He handed over the boarding pass to Lianjam Ranglong, the first passenger on Indigo flight 6E-6747, marking the official commencement of the service. Interestingly, the Governor himself was among the passengers traveling to Hyderabad on the inaugural flight.

In an interaction with the media, Governor Reddy highlighted the growing importance of MBB Airport, calling it the second busiest airport in the Northeast. He emphasized the immense benefits this direct flight would offer to the people of Tripura and Bangladesh, many of whom travel to southern India for medical treatment. “This connection will not only save time but also reduce travel expenses,” he added.

The Governor also mentioned the central government’s UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, which has expanded regional flight connectivity, making air travel more affordable for the general public. Furthermore, he expressed optimism that international flight services from MBB Airport would commence soon, further enhancing the region’s connectivity with the world.

The event was attended by key officials, including the Director of Agartala Airport, K. C. Meena, and representatives from Indigo Airlines.
