ProMASS: Jan 16, 2017: Ruling CPIM in Tripura has decided to launch a 5-day State wide agitation programme from January 27 protesting against demonetization move by Modi-led Government. Briefing reporters today at Agartala, CPIM Central Committee member and Secretary of the State Committee Bijan Dhar said, demonetization move have caused innumerable sufferings for common people. He said, the objective of the agitation is to aware people about the ill effects that the farmers, workers, wage earners and ordinary people suffered due to note scrapping decision followed by cap on cash withdrawals. The agitation will continue till January 31 all over the State.
Referring to 12-hour strike on February 8 called by All Tripura Indigenous Regional Party Forum in ADC area, Bijan Dhar urged people to not to support the bandh and maintain normalcy. The forum has called the strike protesting Citizenship Amendent Bill, 2016 moved by the Central Government. Bijan Dhar unequivocally mentioned CPIM party too opposes the bill, but does not support the call for a dawn to dusk bandh.
