Feb 28, 2017: Nagaland Chief Minister, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu has accused his Manipur counterpart, O. Ibobi Singh, of inciting communal tensions in Manipur. Dr. Liezietsu said Meiteis and the hill tribes of Manipur had been maintaining good neighbourly relations since time immemorial and would continue to do so. According to the Chief Minister’s Office media cell, Dr. Liezietsu said this while speaking at the launching of Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) Party election rally at Senapati, in Manipur yesterday. Elaborating on the aims and objectives of the NPF, the chief minister, who is also the Party President, said the primary aim of NPF was to bring the hill tribes together to a single platform. Lauding the past legislators from the hill districts for all good works they had carried out, Dr. Liezietsu called on the legislators to speak in one voice and one mind in the Assembly. Taking a dig at Ibobi, DAN chairman and Advisor Finance, T.R. Zeliang also said to lift the ongoing blockade in Manipur, or to let it continue depends on Ibobi alone.
