Mar 12, 2017: BJP staged a road blockade on NH 44 today at Udaipur in Gomati district protesting against attacks on two BJP supporters at Chhataria area. Following which, hundreds of BJP followers, led by State party President Biplab Deb took out a protest rally at Udaipur and went for the road blockade on the national highway.
Sources said, Upapradhan of Chataria Panchayat Siddhartha Shankar Bhowmik allegedly launched attack on two BJP supporters last night. Both the BJP supporters, sources said, are undergoing treatment at Gomati District Hospital.
Getting informed of the attack, sources said, BJP State President Deb rushed to the area and organized followers to block the NH 44 at Gakulpur demanding immediate arrest and punitive actions against the accused. With the road blockade, vehicles were stranded in both ends of the highway at Gokulpur.
Almost after an hour, Superintendent of Police of Gomati District reached the spot and held a discussion with Deb and other leaders. Biplab Deb stated, SP assured of arresting the culprit by 10 PM tonight that ultimately made the agitators to lift the agitation and blockade.
