Mar 14, 2017: Signalling strong resistance against any ‘attack’ on party supporters, BJP of State today submitted a deputation to DG in Agartala. A well attended rally shouted slogans condemning TMC.
Agitating BJP demanded immediate arrest of Sandip Roybarman, brother of TMC leader and MLA Sudip Roybarman.
BJP alleged, Sandip Roybarman had assaulted a BJP supporter yesterday which ultimately culminated into pitched battle in the heart of Agartala yesterday evening. Around 13 persons including Police personnel and scribes were injured in the clash. Among others, BJP Vice President also received injuries. The violence spilled over to other places and BJP supporters ransacked and demolished a TMC Party Office in Dharmanagar last night.
Speaking to media person today in presence of State Prabhari Sunil Deodhar, State President of BJP, Biplab Deb condemned the ‘attack’ and said, “BJP will submit a deputation to DG demanding immediate arrest of Sandip”. Till now, there is no report of any untoward incidences and situation is under control in Agartala and other parts of the State, Sources said.
Meanwhile addressing a press conference today, TMC leader Sudip Roybarman urged anti-Left forces not to fight among themselves. He said, unleass anti-Left forces are united, it will not be possible to oust CPIM. Roybarman also informed media persons, TMC will hold a protest rally today demanding punitive actions against BJP supporters who launched attack on TMC last night.
