Mar 21, 2017: Leaders who worked hard for a long time to make Trinamool Congress a viable alternative to ruling CPM in Tripura were sidelined and ignored by new generation leadership. Now it’s payback time for veteran leaders. Most of the senior leaders are all set to trigger a vertical split in TMC. And it is BJP who will be the gainer at the cost of TMC.
Led by former President of TMC Ratan Chakraborty, around 15 leaders today met BJP State President Biplab Deb over a tea Party. BJP State Prabhari Sunil Deodhar was also present there. Senior TMC leader Arun Bhowmik could not attend today’s meeting as he was out of the town. He is expected to meet BJP State leaders tomorrow.TMC Leaders from districts and Gram Panchayat Pradhans were also present in today’s meeting.
It is almost certain that a large chunk of TMC led by Ratan Chakraborty will quit TMC and join BJP. According to political observers, this move will inflict a huge blow to TMC. “If Ratan Chakraborty and other leaders desert TMC, many of their supporters will quit TMC en masse and join BJP. It will virtually make TMC an irrelevant political force in the State”, an exalted BJP supporters stated.
Ratan Chakraborty along with other leaders and supporters is all set to join BJP on March 23 in presence of MoS for Railways Rajen Gohain in Agartala. A big shot of TMC, Surajit Dutta already joined BJP with a large number of his followers. BJP leaders are optimistic that soon after joining of Ratan Chakraborty and other leaders, exodus from grass root level of TMC will begin. Obviously, this will boost morale of BJP before forthcoming 2018 Assembly Polls. With Congress is already in deep crisis, exodus from TMC will automatically lift BJP into a really strong position, Political observers opined.
