Mar 24, 2017: Although Union and Tripura Agriculture Ministries are at loggerheads over facts and figures of fund allocation, issuing statements one after another refuting each other’s claim – the Health and Family Welfare Minister of Tripura Badal Choudhury appears to be more focused on deeds rather than words. Choudhury today met Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda in New Delhi and urged Nadda’s help in improving health care services in Tripura.
During the meeting with JP Nadda, State Health Minister raised several issues relating to health care services. Sources said, Choudhury appraised the Union Minister about implementation and achievement of several Centrally Sponsored Health related schemes. He also discussed about associated problems in implementing the schemes and state of facilities in medical education sector. Among other issues, Choudhury raised demand of setting up examination centers for students appearing in PG Entrance for Medical Courses. He also highlighted the need to expand infrastructural facilities of Regional Cancer Center, Agartala and expansion of the Center by setting up special blocks for treating Cancer patients.
Sources said, after listening the demands and proposals of Choudhury, Union Minister JP Nadda assured that he would look into the demands with due consideration. Both the Ministers held discussion on cordial note.
Earlier, Choudhury put up similar demands when Nadda came to Agartala on March 18 to inaugurate expansion of Rotavirus vaccination programme in additional five States including Tripura. In reply, JP Nadda invited Choudhury to meet him in New Delhi so that both the Minister can discuss and sort out issues pertaining to health care services in Tripura. Accepting the invitation, Choudhury today held elaborate discussion on health sector with the Union Minister and urged him to help in improving health services in the State. Union Health Minister also responded positively and both the Ministers batted for common people keeping aside controversies and contradictions.
