Agartala, June 5: Nearly three months after he left to achieve a monumental feat, Everest conqueror Aritra Roy has returned to Tripura and was warmly reunited with his mother and family members. However, shockingly, no representatives from the Olympic Association or the state government were present at the airport to formally receive or honor him.
Everest conqueror Aritra Roy landed at Agartala airport at 11:45 AM, arriving on a flight from Delhi. His younger brother Aman and mother Kanika Debi were already at the airport with a vehicle to receive him.
Members of Milan Chakra Club, Agartala Adventure Club, and Agartala Cycloholics greeted the everest conqueror with floral garlands, drums, and festive cheers to celebrate his triumph.
He was first honored at the Rajbari gate and later received a welcome ceremony at his neighborhood club.
Prominent mountaineer from the state, Pranab Akhanda, had already conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to Aritra and was instrumental in informing the public about his arrival.
Notably, on March 16, Aritra embarked on a 1,300-kilometer bicycle journey to reach Nepal. After a strenuous trek through icy terrain, he reached the summit of Mount Everest at 7:31 AM on May 19.
