Apr 03, 2017: The Centre has sanctioned 98 crore rupees for the development of the tourism sector in Assam. Participating in the Namami Brahmaputra festival in Guwahati yesterday, Tourism Minister Mahesh Sarma said the Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal did an excellent work by organizing the event. The minister has announced another two crore rupees from the Centre for the festival. He said that rivers are the resources of the economic progress. The minister also announced to take step for the development of 12 religious places of Assam including the Kamakhya
In Assam, the army has gunned down three militants of anti talk faction of the United Kukigam Defence Army in Karbi Anglong district yesterday. Karbi Anglong Superintendent of Police said that as per information received, encounter occurred at Jullian village under Manza police station. He said three militants have been gunned down while another sustain injuries. The slain militants belonged to anti talk Martin group of the outfit.
